Touching Hearts

Touching Hearts is a ministry headed up by members of CLG, Marilyn Dear and Pam Kritcher, that sends encouragement to young adults who are in college or the military in the form of letters, Bible verses, snacks, a prayer, cards, little pick-me-up-notes, favorite candy bars, and sometimes even a dozen homemade cookies. The goal of the ministry is to show God’s love in a tangible way to those away from home.

Good news from a distant land is like cold water to a weary soul.

-Proverbs 25:25

Those involved in the ministry meet together on a monthly basis to put together care packages from home. They pray over the packages and for each person. The monthly gathering is open to anyone who wishes to participate in this ministry. There are also other opportunities to be involved: donating items for the care packages and/or shipping a package or two. Each month the ministry typically sends somewhere between 3 and 30 care packages to college students and soldiers. During the Adopt-a-Soldier for Christmas campaign as many as 1000 packages may be sent for the holidays!

ITEMS TO DONATE:

  • Trail mix/Nuts (small size)

  • Beef Jerky

  • Protein bars

  • Gum

  • Comics (Sunday/daily)

  • Cough drops (25 to 50 ct.)

  • Puzzle book (paperback size)

Donations may be placed in the Touching Hearts drop box in the church lobby.

If you know a college student or soldier that would be encouraged by receiving a care package, please fill out this form. We will send you an application to get them on the mailing list!

I want to thank you for all the packages and letters. The letters are wonderful. I do not have any family so what you send is all I receive...
